WHY DO I NEED A COORDINATION STUDY?
Coordinating your overcurrent protection devices (OCPD) ensures that when a fault occurs, your equipment or process shuts down in an expected manner. The coordination study identifies areas where overcurrent protection is absent or mis-coordinated then offers solutions to fix the problems. Many uncoordinated electrical distribution systems can be repaired with no infrastructure changes by properly adjusting the OCPD settings with suggestions from the coordination study. This means you can spend little money and sleep better knowing your process is protected correctly. This upfront work will reduce equipment damage and expanded outages to your process. See NEC Article 240.12 for more information.
